ABOUT ME (✯◡✯)
WHO AM I?
My name is Marnie, I am 26 and I love to create and make trinkets that I think are pretty. I ♡ my pet bunnies and going for a swim, and I am very content when I am in my studio making jewellery bringing designs to life.
I created Marmalade Gardens in 2016, my final year of high school as a way to sell jewellery and fund my artistic endeavours. Over half a decade later my art practice has grown abundantly, having completed a Bachelor of Fine Arts at RMIT majoring in Gold and Silversmithing.
I was lucky enough to be interviewed by Fashion Journal Magazine in May 2024 here’s the link if you’d like to read it ~ https://fashionjournal.com.au/fashion/jewellery-label-marmalade-gardens/
WHERE DO MY DESIGNS COME FROM?
All my designs have seen hours of trial and error; finding things that I enjoy and ideas in my head to then turning those ideas into a piece of jewellery that I think deserves a little spot in my collection. I find it easy to have these ideas, but translating them into metal while keeping into account wearability, practicality and looking cute can be a bit of a process which is why my collections aren’t huge. Quality over quantity :)
SUSTAINABILITY?
Big topic in our current climate! I currently integrate quite a few practices in my business to lower my carbon footprint. First off the bat all casted sterling silver and gold pieces are made from 100% recycled metals. I also use 95% lab created gemstones; as they are not mined they are the more sustainable option (and are just as strong if not stronger than a mined gemstone, don’t get me started on how beautiful they are too).
All shipping has been carbon offset!
CUSTOM ORDERS?
I really love creating custom pieces for you all. My commission books are open most of the year so feel free to message me via instagram @marmaladegardens or via email marnie_walshe@hotmail.com and we can chat about design/pricing etc. I’d love to make your jewel dreams come true!
Thank-you for supporting my little business, and allowing it to grow.
All my love ~ Marnie x
I would like to acknowledge that my art is created on the stolen lands of the Yorta Yorta peoples, and pay my respect to Elders past, present and emerging.
